Module 1: Utility and Purpose + Where to Go for Information

Welcome to this training course designed by the Data Governance Committee at SPS. This training is intended to be a resource on data governance that will empower staff at the School of Professional Studies to embrace best practices of a data-driven organization.

For this first module, you will listen to a brief audio podcast introducing you to the subject. After completing this prerequisite learning activity, you will then attend a live virtual training on Zoom hosted by members of the Data Governance Committee.

How was this podcast made?

In an attempt to attract more engagement and bring added life to an otherwise dry topic, the DGC decided to leverage growing AI tools in use at CU. Once such tool being piloted by CUIT is NotebookLM, a Google product, an AI powered research and note taking tool, which also happens to offer a podcast generation element. The DGC utilized this tool by carefully curating and feeding various data governance documents into the tool to craft a comprehensive model of what we deemed to be the most appropriate content for SPS end user's basic understanding of data governance.

After NotebookLM generated an initial draft of the podcast, we employed AI powered audio editing tools to further tailor the content to meet the requirements of the DGC and customize the content for SPS and its staff. As you'll note, the end product is a brief, concise, and customized podcast for SPS stakeholders, which address the basics of data governance at SPS.
