Are you interested in using the cloud to run research analyses but aren't quite sure how to get started? or are you familiar with AWS but want to explore GCP?
Join CUIT Research Computing Services for a session led by Columbia's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) liasions. This session is designed to introduce researchers at Columbia to the fundamentals of research in the cloud by providing info on how to set up and manage a GCP account using your Columbia identity, as well as a live demo of how to access various components (storage, analysis, infrastructure). Users will be provided with temporary free GCP access following the event so they can access the modules themselves and get comfortable in the environment before creating a Columbia account.
- How to create a Columbia-linked GCP account (and the benefits of doing so)
- Credits available to researchers
- GCP analogs to AWS modules
- How to set up an instance (server) in the cloud for data analysis
- How to run a job / scripts
- How to access LionMail Drive data in GCP
