Join us for a conversation with Syrian-Lebanese activist Rawan Osman and a screening of her film Tragic Awakening. Rawan was raised in a Hezbollah stronghold in Lebanon experiencing the harsh reality of life under their rule and the conflict with Israel from the perspective of a Lebanese woman. After a deep search and experiencing Israel for herself, Rawan's eyes were opened to a different reality and she has become a strong advocate against antisemtism and for peace between Israel and the Arab world.
The event will begin with a 45 minute film. Tragic Awakening explores antisemitism's roots, the origins of Jewish hatred, how it has evolved and what it means about any freedom-seeking society so that we may better understand why and how to combat it today.
After the film Rawan will speak more about her own experiences and will respond to audience questions.
