The Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center (WFCPC) at Columbia Univerisity is excited to support Opera Praktikos on their musical drama There Will Be Cake! this December.
Founded by Greg Moomjy, a member of the WFCPC's Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC), Opera Praktiko is New York City's first disability-affirmative opera company, with a mission to make opera an inclusive and accessible art form for audiences and artists alike.
There Will Be Cake! is a sweet, site-specific musical drama pairing two mono-operas about memory and food, featuring words of wisdom from Julia Child herself! One short opera bakes us a chocolate cake, the other spreads joy! Mixed together, these mono-operas make for one hour of a delicious and joy-filled community event…and yes, there WILL be cake!
The performances will be held at Asylum NYC, an accessible venue in Manhattan. There will be three matinee performances at 1:30pm on December 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2024.
