This workshop offers an introduction to mixing using the inexpensive digital audio workstation software Reaper. We will learn about balance, about EQ, compression, panning, and other common effects, and anything that will help you get started on mixing on your own. More info on Reaper, including info on downloading, is available at: https://www.reaper.fm/. Note that a 60-day free trial is available. It is recommended to download the free plugins from Melda Production as well: https://www.meldaproduction.com/effects/free
No previous experience is required. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring their own laptops to the session.
The workshop will be held in the Seminar Room of the Music & Arts Library, 701 Dodge. Ask at the desk for directions to the Seminar Room.
This workshop is taught by MFA Sound Art graduate student Ása Ólafsdóttir, and is part of the Music Technology Workshops Series, co-sponsored by the Music & Arts Library and the Libraries' Digital Scholarship program.
