J-Now: Zenger Lecture with Wendi C. Thomas
Poverty isn’t an accident, it’s a robbery. Good journalism targets the thieves.
Wendi Thomas will discuss finding justice through journalism. She will describe what it looks like to reject traditional journalism as it’s been done to marginalized communities and how MLK50 does journalism differently. She'll take you from broad-minded, visionary terms down to practical matters, with a description of her award-winning nonprofit hospital debt collection investigation and her organization's coverage of the Byhalia oil pipeline.
Wendi is an award-winning journalist focused on economic and racial justice. She is the founding editor and publisher at MLK50 in Memphis, Tennessee.
