The workshop offers information on sound recording in the field, outside of a studio. The workshop will cover basic use of portable recorders and how to record various types of sound sources. There will be a live demonstration and an opportunity for participants to try recording a few objects in person. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop and an SD card if possible, but this is not required to participate.
The workshop will be held in the Seminar Room of the Music & Arts Library, 701 Dodge. Ask at the desk for directions to the Seminar Room.
This workshop is taught by MFA Sound Art graduate student Miles Scharff, and is part of the Music Technology Workshops Series, co-sponsored by the Music & Arts Library and the Libraries' Digital Scholarship program. For a list of all the workshops, with registration links, go to: bit.ly/MusTechSp25
