Metastatic progression of prostate cancer – mostly into the bone, causes significant morbidity and remains the main determinant of the poor disease outcomes. Animal models provide a physiological environment needed to study these tumors but do not enable precise control of tumor environment and only rarely develop skeletal metastasis. In this talk, we present a human “cancer patient on a chip” model of prostate carcinoma with vascular perfusion that physiologically integrates bioengineered human tumors with their canonical target tissues to which they metastasize (lung, liver, bone), all derived from the same patient’s cells.
