Integrative analysis of personal epigenomes: Implications for precision medicine and patient privacy
With the advent in omics technologies, we can now survey many molecular culprits of diseases such as cancer. However, collection of this vast trove of multimodal data comes with daunting challenges in the analysis and privacy spaces. In this talk, I will first describe how computational modeling and statistical mechanics can help interpret gene regulatory mechanisms from omics measurements such as from ChIP-seq and Hi-C data. I will then describe what kind of patient privacy risks that the analysis and sharing of these measurements pose and how we can mitigate these risks using computational techniques.
