March 31, 2025
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
America/New_York
Dodge Hall, 2960 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 Gabe M. Wiener Music & Arts Library

This workshop will cover how to build a basic granular synthesizer from scratch inside of Max MSP. We will cover sampling, envelopes, and polyphony.

It is highly recommended that you bring your own laptop with to the workshop if you would like to patch along, and have some Max MSP experience. The software is not free, but has a 30-day free trial. (The software is also installed on the machines of the Digital Music Lab in the Music & Arts Library, for further exploration on your own time.)

The workshop will be held in the Seminar Room of the Music & Arts Library, 701 Dodge. Ask at the desk for directions to the Seminar Room.

This workshop is taught by MFA Sound Art graduate student Miles Scharff, and is part of the Music Technology Workshops Series, co-sponsored by the Music & Arts Library and the Libraries' Digital Scholarship program.
