The CUIMC's Women Employee Resource Group (ERG) will host their next quarterly roundtable discussion on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 12:00pm - 1:15pm entitled - Flip the Script: Disrupt Interruption & Build Belonging at CUIMC.
During the discussion, participants will:
- Explore how power dynamics, implicit biases, and social identities impact one's likelihood of interrupting others, being interrupted at work, and willingness to speak up after being interrupted.
- Discuss how allies and/or leaders can assist with "flipping the script," or disrupting an interruption both in virtual and in-person settings.
- Practice how everyone can use intentional language to disrupt interruptions, apologize for interrupting others, and set conversational norms to build long-term inclusion and belonging in the workplace.
This discussion will be facilitated by Kyrah Altman, who is the fulltime CEO and Co-founder of Let’s Empower Advocate and Do (LEAD) Inc. LEAD is the industry leader in proactive and tailored mental health education for camps, sports teams, schools, and companies. Kyrah's organization is also credited with developing the nation's first mental health certifications in those specific industries and workplace environments.
