With President Biden’s visit to Israel this week, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza quickly deteriorating, and the potential of the war expanding to Israel’s northern border with Lebanon, all eyes are on Gaza and what comes next. Meanwhile, Israel continues to carry out massive retaliatory strikes and is preparing for a ground invasion to root out Hamas and rescue its hostages held in Gaza. The war has already taken the lives of thousands of Israeli and Palestinian civilians. Columbia SIPA’s Institute of Global Politics is convening its second Rapid Response webinar, titled “Assessing the War in Gaza,” to discuss the unfolding humanitarian situation, the reaction and role of Israel’s Arab neighbors, and the ability of diplomacy to avert a humanitarian disaster and deter a wider war.

Moderated by Keren Yarhi-Milo, Dean of Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs and Adlai E. Stevenson Professor of International Relations.
