Academic Integrity & Community Standards
This page is intended to support SPS faculty in addressing concerns related to academic integrity and community standards and to provide clarity on appropriate escalation pathways and institutional resources.
A student’s continued enrollment, receipt of academic credit, graduation, and conferral of any degree or certificate are subject to the University’s disciplinary authority. Responsibility for student discipline has been delegated by the Trustees and the President to the deans of the individual schools and divisions and is administered through Dean’s Discipline. This process is typically overseen by the dean of students in coordination with Student Conduct and Community Standards. In limited circumstances, cases adjudicated under the Rules of University Conduct and the University Judicial Board may be appealed to the President.
When a concern arises, whether involving academic dishonesty including cheating or plagiarism or conduct that significantly disrupts the academic environment, faculty should first notify their Program Administrator. Program Administrators serve as the initial point of contact and provide guidance on documentation, consultation with the appropriate dean’s office, and determination of whether formal referral is warranted.
